Three honored for heroic actions during crisis

The town of Welsh recently honored three local young men for their extraordinary courage and composure in assisting a man in distress earlier this year.

Tyler Broussard, Jaxson Meche and Beau Hixson were recognized for their heroic actions, quick thinking and poise exhibited during the lifesaving situation in January

According to Welsh Mayor Karl Arceneaux, the three were on a hunting trip in the Lacassine Bayou when they heard a call for help. They immediately responded and found the man who had fallen out of his boat and was severely injured by the propeller.

Meche applied a tourniquet to the man’s leg while Hixson called 911. They then transported the man back to the boat landing to meet an ambulance.l, he said.

“The prompt response and quick thinking by Jaxson Meche, Beau Hixson and Tyler Broussard, and their concern for others, saved the victim, who was near death,” Arceneaux said in presenting a proclamation to the individuals during a recent council meeting.
