Local teacher charged with indecent behavior

A local high school teacher has been arrested on an indecent behavior charge.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said detectives received a complaint Jan. 30 regarding 36-year-old teacher Travis J. Provo.

She said the victim said Provo, who was her teacher, made a lewd comment to her while at school.

“The victim further stated that on one occasion Provo grabbed and pushed her,” Vincent said. “During further investigation, detectives were able to corroborate the victim’s statement.”

On Friday, Provo was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with indecent behavior with juveniles; and simple battery.

Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $75,500.
