Lake Charles Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in a Mardi Gras shooting that occurred at Pappy’s Sports Pub.
Deputy Chief Kevin Kirkum said Rodney Gernard Williams III has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of dangerous instrumentalities and possession of a firearm on premises of an alcoholic beverage outlet. His bond has been set at $455,000.
Kirkum said when officers responded to the shooting at about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, they located a 25-year-old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and continues to be listed in stable condition.
Kirkum said the victim and Williams got into a physical confrontation near one of the entrances to the deli. Following the altercation — while the victim was attempting to leave the area — Williams produced a weapon and shot him.
He was arrested Thursday morning in the 3100 block of Kirkman St. without incident.
Kirkum said those with information are asked to call Lake Charles Police at 337- 491-1311 or anonymously leave a tip on the Lake Charles PD app. Det. Christian Arabie is the lead investigator.
