According to the Vinton Police Department, human remains were located Monday in the area of the 1100 block of Elsie Street.

The identity of the individual has not been determined, and the circumstances surrounding the discovery remain under investigation.

Police said out of respect for the individual and their family, no further details are being released at this time. Investigators are working closely with the appropriate forensic and investigative partners to determine the identity and cause of death.

There is no known threat to the public at this time. If this assessment changes, the community will be notified promptly.
