A Jennings man has been arrested on pornography charges following an investigation into the production and possession of child sexual abuse material involving a five-year-old child.

Joseph Leon Regan Jr., 28, was arrested Tuesday by the Jennings Police Department on a charge of child sexual abuse material involving a child under the age of 13. His bond was set at $100,000.

According to Jennings Police Chief Danny Semmes, the investigation began after the victim’s mother discovered an  explicit image in a shared digital photo album. The mother reported the incident to authorities after confronting Regan, who allegedly attempted to delete the image.

“My investigators went out, did a search warrant on his residence and found evidence in the residence that corroborated the story that we had been told by the child’s mother,” Semmes said.

Regan was apprehended in Egan with assistance from the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities review digital devices and physical evidence for potential additional charges. The Child Advocacy Center is also scheduled to interview the child involved.
