Simon keeps seat on Jennings City Council

Incumbent Councilwoman Carolyn King Simon retained her seat on the Jennings City Council in Saturday’s runoff election, according to complete, yet unofficial results from the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office.

Simon defeated challenger Elisah Neal Duhon with 174 votes, or 55 percent to continue to serve in District A on the city council. Duhon drew 144 votes, or 45 percent.

Simon’s victory secures her fourth term on the Jennings City Council.

Voter turnout was 29 percent.

The runoff was the only item on the ballot in Jeff Davis Parish.
