John Terrell Fruge, lover of life, 82, of Lake Charles passed away at 12:53 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 in a Lafayette hospital.
Terrell was born on Sept. 22, 1942 in Jennings, La. He was a graduate of Sulphur High School and attended McNeese State University.
In his younger years, he spent time with his beloved Grandpaw Fruge in the rice and cattle fields. He learned the value of hard work by just working alongside his Grandpaw, and he carried that work ethic with him all of his life. He was an avid runner for many years and a charter member of the Lake Charles Racquet Club. Tennis was his playground.
Terrell served in the Air Force and had a successful career in industrial sales. In his later years, he returned to his roots and passion for livestock. As a cattleman, he found joy simply being among the animals.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Marsha Fruge; siblings, Michael Fruge (Mary Ann), Pat Fruge (Paula), Ivan Fruge Jr. (Liz), and Debbie Dickson (Sterling), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Verda and Ivan Fruge Sr., and three siblings, Charles, Beverly, and Gerald Fruge.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. Pastor Zack and George Rodriguez will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 4 p.m. until the start of the service.
