McNeese holds the tiebreaker with SELA after winning two of three from the Lady Lions last weekend. With six games remaining, both are in a position to host one of the two postseason pods.

The Cowgirls are looking to become the first program to win our straight SLC regular season championships.

“We are just looking at playing the best softball we can and let everything else take care of itself,” said McNeese head coach James Landreneau.

Kassidy Chance, Nyjah Fontenot, and Rylie Bouvier each had three hits and combined to score six runs. Bouvier drove in two runs as well.

Jada Munoz hit her 11th home run of the season, a two-run shot in the top of the seventh to give McNeese a 7-1 lead.

The Cowgirls scored three times in the first to take the lead for good after sweeping a doubleheader Friday.

Freshman Maddie Taylor worked the first four innings, allowing just one run to improve her record to 14-6. Ryann Schexnayer worked the final three to pick up her seventh save, tying the school record.

None of the Huskies’ runs were earned.
