Tors bomb Lady K’s with four HR

SULPHUR – The Sulphur Tor softball team showed their power at the plate to beat South Beauregard 10-2 at home to win their seventh consecutive game on Tuesday at North Frasch Park.
Maliyah Navarre, Mariah Davis, Ella Ezekiel and Jenna Gautreaux hit home runs for the Tors. Sulphur has hit 18 home runs in their last seven games.
The Tors (16-11) improved their playoff stock, moving up to No. 12 in the Non-select Division I power rankings. The regular season ends on April 15.
Navarre got the home run fest with a three-run bomb in the bottom of the third inning to build up the Tors’ tenuous 2-1 lead. Gautreaux followed with a two-run shot to center field for her first home run of the season.
Davis and Ezekiel hit solo home runs in the fifth inning.
While the Tors put the game away with big shots, small ball to get things going. In the bottom of the second inning, David put down a punt to score Pressy White to tie the game, 1-1. The Tors took the lead in the third inning on a White’s RBI single on a ground ball to center field.
South Beauregard (13-12) led first when Camryn Jackson scored on Jada Daigle’s ground out in the second inning.
Claire Mellard pitched a complete game for the Tors with eight strikeouts and two walks.
