A nearly 13-hour manhunt in Jennings concluded Tuesday afternoon with the arrest of Tyren Chavis, 30, of Church Point, who was wanted for murder.
According to police, Chavis was tracked to Penny Street in Jennings with the help of drones and officers after he evaded capture during a traffic stop earlier in the day.
Chavis is accused of the January murder of Eric St. Julien in Church Point. Joseph Wilridge Jr. had previously been arrested as part of the murder investigation.
Reportedly, Chavis was driving a stolen car with an expired tag when a Jennings police officer attempted to stop him earlier in the day. Following a short pursuit, Chavis and a passenger crashed the vehicle into a tree and fled on foot.
Police are still searching for the passenger.
During a search of the vehicle, an AR-15 assault rifle was found.
Chavis had reportedly traveled to Jennings to meet someone.
He will be transferred to Acadia Parish to face the murder charge.
