Lois “Georgie” Stoddard, 66, of Lake Charles, passed away on March 14, 2025. Born deaf and mute, Georgie never let her disability define or limit her. She lived life on her own terms, full of adventure, independence, and joy.

Georgie attended the Louisiana School for the Deaf in Baton Rouge and later returned to Lake Charles, where she became a local celebrity for riding her purple bicycle all over town. Whether pedaling from Moss Bluff to Lake Charles or simply riding around town, she was a familiar and cherished face in the community. Despite any hurdles in communication, Georgie never met a stranger, only friends.

She had a deep love for animals, especially unicorns, horses, and butterflies and anything purple. She adored little children and found joy in all things. Fiercely independent, Georgie refused to be told where she could go or what she could do often telling her family and friends, “I do what I want.”
