Broncos hit four home runs to beat Bucs

MOSS BLUFF – The Sam Houston High School softball team erased an early deficit with big hits Tuesday to beat District 3-5A rival Barbe 17-4 in five innings.
The Broncos combined to hit four home runs to extend their win streak to 11 games.
Down 3-0, Sam Houston exploded for 13 runs in the second inning. Kallie England started the scoring for the Broncos with a solo home run to left field, and Carolina Eidson scored the go-ahead run on a double by Aubrey Portie with two outs. But the Broncos weren’t done yet as Aubrey Hobbs launched a grand slam two batters later.
In the fourth inning, Chloe Peshoff (3-run) and Portie hit back-to-back home runs. Peshoff drove in five runs and was one of five Broncos with two or more hits. Eidson was 3 for 4 and scored three runs and drove in one.
Barbe (8-7, 1-2) took a 3-0 lead with two outs in the top of the first inning on a 3-run double by Ella Kay.
Kailyn Mire pitched a complete game for the Broncos (13-2, 3-0) with two strikeouts and two walks while allowing three earned runs on four hits.
