Alf Edward Sanner

On March 13, 2025, Alf Edward Sanner went to meet Jesus his Lord and Savior. He was born Dec. 14, 1936 in Hackberry, La. to his father, Alf Sanner and mother, Maydie Portie Sanner. Three months later, his mother passed from pneumonia. The family relocated to Sulphur. He graduated from Sulphur High in 1955. Alf played sports and was a quarterback in football. He also played basketball and pole vault in track. He received the Joe Young Memorial award in Basketball and Best All Around Athlete award. His love for sports continued into adulthood. He played golf, on a bowling league, coached American Legion baseball, and loved FISHING!! After high school, he attended McNeese State University for two years then was hired at Cities Service. He began in Operations and 42 years later, retired as Labor Relations Supervisor. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alf and Maydie Sanner, and stepmother, Hester Sanner; brothers, Norman and Keith Sanner, and sister, Glenda Guillotte. 

Remaining to cherish his memories are sons, Bo and Mark Sanner, and daughter, Cindy Sanner, along with five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Cannot put into words how much he is missed. This is only temporary and we will be reunited in Heaven for eternity. We love you, dad. 

A Celebration of Alf’s life will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home in Sulphur, La. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 10 a.m., with Deacon Patrick LaPoint Sr. officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Carlyss.
