There is potential for severe weather today across Southwest Louisiana, in addition to dense fog that has formed across the area.
The fog is expected to improve by mid-morning over inland areas with fog lingering through midday over the waters, said the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office.
Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected starting at about noon today. There is a marginal risk for severe storms.
Large hail will be the primary hazard, but there is also a low risk of isolated tornadoes or damaging winds.
Warmer-than-normal temperatures, as well, are expected going into mid-March.
