Trudy Mae Thomas

Trudy Mae Thomas passed away on Feb. 26, 2025, she was born on Feb. 20, 1918, in a rural area known as Welsh, La., to the union of Gabriel Garland and Victoria White Garland.
Trudy was married to Lawrence Thomas for 60 years. She lived in Port Arthur before moving to Lake Charles and moving in with her nephew and niece, Taylor and Cathy Fuselier. She then decided to move in with her nephew and niece, Leonard and Elizabeth Fuselier who were her caretakers for 25 years. She spent the last 12 years at the Landmark of Lake Charles Nursing Home. Trudy was a mother to all her nieces and nephews as she helped their parents love and care for them. She was an excellent cook, she was fun to be around, she was giving, and she was always willing to help her neighbors. Trudy had a long, deep laugh that will be remembered with deep affection by her family.
Her precious memories will forever be cherished by her family. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Gabriel Garland and Victoria White Garland; husband, Lawrence Thomas; sisters, Mable, Mary, Mamie, Beulah, Agnes, Eva, and Clara Bell; brothers, Gabriel and Leon; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services to honor Trudy’s life will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Combre Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Burial will follow in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Combre Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
