Arch Burton Kennedy III, a native of Westlake, died at age 71 on Feb. 26, 2025 near his son’s home in North Carolina.

Burt was born in Jennings, La. to mother Ruth Waltrip Kennedy (Zachary, LA) and father Arch Burton Kennedy Jr. (dec.). He is survived by his mother, wife, brother, sister, two daughters, one son, and two grandchildren.

Burt grew up and lived in Westlake, La. for most of his life. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Cities Service refinery in the 1970s, then Conoco refinery for more than 25 years, then for Calcasieu parish for a period of time. He owned and operated a bulldozer service for a period of time.

Burt enjoyed rabbit hunting, and he enjoyed fishing on the Calcasieu river.

The Kennedy family greatly appreciates all of the friends, neighbors, and family that touched Burt’s life. Arrangements for a gathering for a celebration of life service will be finalized at a later date likely to be near the St. Francisville, Louisiana area.
