Jean Eva Johnson, 82, a resident of Lake Charles, La., passed from this life on Feb. 25, 2025, in a local hospital, secure in her faith, knowing Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Jean was renowned for her big heart and her strict yet loving approach to life’s challenges.
A connoisseur of life’s simple pleasures, Jean reveled in going out to eat, solving crossword puzzles, and indulging in her love for candy. Her evenings were often spent watching her favorite television shows or enjoying a shopping trip. In her youth, Jean’s zest for life was expressed through fishing trips that would last for hours and dance floors that knew her grace.
Family was the cornerstone of Jean’s world. She cherished the times spent playing Nintendo with her grandchildren, creating memories that would sparkle in their hearts forever. Jean’s legacy is one of joy, discipline, and an unwavering faith, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband Horace Miller; children, Ricky Mouton, Curtis Mouton, and Brenda Cady, Shantel Manuel and Steve Cloutier Jr.; parents, Terrance and Anna Cormier Bearb; siblings, Dorothy Hebert, C.J. Bearb, Clarence Bearb, Marie Breaux, Gloria Cormier, Mitlon Bearb, and Judy Miller and several nieces and nephews.
Jean is survived by her three children, David Mouton, Sanita Cloutier and her husband Steve, Gloria Miller, Shirley Miller; grandchildren, Samantha Miller, Joseph Miller, Ryan Cloutier, Heather Charron, Chris Charron, Teisha Matte, Brandon Manuel, Tina Miller and Tammy Miller; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Mona Arcenaux and her husband Harold, and Barbara Jean Veroni and her husband Wilson and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Johnson’s cremation has been entrusted to Lakeside Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. A celebration of Mrs. Johnson’s life will be held at 2 p.m.
