It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Will B. Bevil Jr. (Bill) 88 years of age, Saturday, March 1, 2025.  His departure leaves a void that can never be filled.   

Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many and known as a pillar of strength, for providing resourcefulness, and kindness to us all.

Bill was born to his late parents, Will B. Sr. and Eunice Bevil on September 22, 1936 in Call, Texas and is survived by his loving wife of nearly 67 years, Marie Bevil of DeQuincy; son, Bill Bevil and wife Lucy of Lake Charles; granddaughter, Jessica Templeton of Lake Charles; brother, Tom Weir of Reno, Nev.; nieces, Angela Batchelor, Christine Fontenot, Sally Kennedy and Sharon Bias; nephews, Patrick LaFargue, Scott Isaaks and Martin Hulsman; along with many great nieces, nephews and friends.

As a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps (USMC), Bill served his country during the Korean War.

Bill became a master machinist and worked the majority of his career at Cities Service and ConocoPhillips where he made many lasting friendships which continued long after his retirement.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents who raised him, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew L. Bevil; sisters, Jeanette Isaaks, Sally Hulsman, Eleanor Craiger; and grandson-in-law, Jared Templeton.

Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church of DeQuincy and was a faithful servant of the Lord.  He served on various Church committees and would visit local area Churches to fellowship with others within the community.  Bill especially enjoyed visiting those who were not able to attend Church services sharing the Lord’s word, bringing meals as needed and reading the Bible upon requests.

Bill had a lifelong passion for sports, fishing, and all types of music.  He coached Little League Baseball for many years and enjoyed attending and supporting DeQuincy High School Basketball and Baseball games and tournaments.

A celebration of Will’s life will be held at First Baptist Church in DeQuincy on Saturday, March 8,  2025, at 11 a.m., with Bro. Brad Johnson and Bro. Josh Rachall officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
