A DeRidder woman was killed Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash on La. 12 just west of U.S. 171.

Louisiana State Police Trooper Matt Gaspard said the 4 p.m. crash claimed the life of 43-year-old Kelly Williams.

Gaspard said Williams was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban west on La. 12.

“For reasons still under investigation, the Suburban left the roadway to the right before striking a concrete pillar,” Gaspard said.

Williams, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Gaspard said two children in the vehicle were properly restrained and received minor injuries. A third child received moderate injuries and seatbelt usage is unknown at this time.

A standard toxicology sample was collected and submitted for analysis, he said, and the crash remains under investigation.
