A Lake Charles man was killed in a Friday night crash when the motorcycle he was driving was struck from behind on Gulf Highway near its intersection with Eddie Hebert Road.
Louisiana State Police Trooper Peggy Bourque  said the crash claimed the life of 52-year-old Carson McCain.

Bourque said a 2006 Honda motorcycle, driven by McCain, was traveling north on La. 385. At the same time, a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 35-Year-old Catharine Carlin of DeRidder, was following behind the motorcycle.
“For reasons still under investigation, as the motorcycle began to slow and turn left toward a private driveway, the Chevrolet struck the rear of the motorcycle, causing McCain to be ejected,” Bourque said.
McCain, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Carlin, who was properly restrained, sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Standard toxicology samples were submitted for analysis from both drivers, Bourque said.
