A devoted father, grandfather, brother, physician, and friend, he lived a life rich in love, faith, and service. Born on July 12, 1943, in Lebanon, Pa. where his father was stationed in the army, Dr. Guidry grew up in Lake Charles, La., a place that he would spend his entire life with the exception of his own military service. He graduated from LaGrange High School and attended McNeese State College until his early admission to LSU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans. During his time in New Orleans, he met and married the love of his life, Elitia Ann Tracy. His love for and devotion to her would shape the rest of his life. After graduation and his residency, Dr. Guidry entered the US Air Force as a medical officer practicing obstetrics a gynecology. He proudly served in Bitburg, Germany for 3 years. Upon his discharge, he moved his family back to Lake Charles where he devoted the rest of his adult life to bringing new lives into the world, providing skilled and compassionate care for his patients, and raising his beloved family.
Dr. Guidry came to the Catholic faith as an adult and embraced it wholeheartedly and practiced it throughout the rest of his life. His faith deepened through his ACTS retreat, and he counted among his best friends men of the cloth. He was a devoted husband, never failing to have Elitia by his side. He loved his children dearly and relished and viewed their lives and successes with great pride. Beyond his professional and spiritual life, he was a man of creativity who found great pleasure in the arts, whether they were musical, visual, or culinary. He and Elitia treasured many moments spent with friends and family over a great meal with fine wine.
