A Lake Charles woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash overnight Saturday after being hit by an intoxicated driver.

Lake Charles Police Lt. Brenda Treadway said officers responded to the wreck at about 12:57 a.m. and learned a 2018 Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on 9th Street when it attempted to make a wide right turn onto 4th Avenue. Treadway said that while the Ram was making the turn, it went into the oncoming lane of 9th St. and struck a 2007 Hyundai Sonata, which was parked on the north side of the roadway and facing west, head on.

The occupant in the driver seat of the Hyundai, Kevatauki Williams, 35, was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries, Treadway said. A passenger in the Hyundai received moderate injuries and was also transported to a local hospital, where he was treated and later released.
