Adrian  “Doug” Cox Jr.

Adrian “Doug” Cox Jr. was born Jan. 19, 1948, and passed away Feb. 5, 2025, at the age of 77.  Doug was a graduate of DeQuincy High School, McNeese State University and graduated from LSU with a Juris Doctorate Degree in 1984.  He practiced law for 40 years in DeQuincy and also was an associate with the law firm of Stockwell Sievert in Lake Charles. Doug served the City of DeQuincy as City Attorney for 25 years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, DeQuincy.  Doug’s home was DeQuincy, but his heart was in Arkansas.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife, Belinda Cox; son, Michael Cox and wife, Sarah; grandchildren, Eli Stinson, Isaac Cox, and Johanna Cox; father-in-law, W. L. Pinder; brother-in-law, Jeff Pinder and wife Donna; and sisters-in-law, Terry Bertrand and Kathy Cox.

He is preceded in death by his son, Stephen Christopher Cox; parents, Adrian Cox Sr. and Margaret Cox; and brother, Danny Cox.

Family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, and continuing from 9 a.m. until the time of 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at First Baptist Church, DeQuincy, Louisiana. Pastor David Earnest will be officiating. Interment to follow at Masonic Cemetery, DeQuincy, Louisiana.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. 4th Street, DeQuincy, Louisiana.
