A 58-year-old Lake Charles man was killed Thursday night when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a truck on You Winn Road in Moss Bluff.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said Elvis Thompson was riding a bicycle in the middle of You Winn Road near Verna Lane at around 10:45 p.m., when a truck traveling eastbound struck the bicycle.

Thompson, who was wearing dark clothing, had no rear lights on the bike, Vincent said.

He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is continuing, impairment is not believed to be a factor.
