The attorney for a Texas veterinarian falsely accused of rape and sexual assault has issued a statement after his client was found not guilty of the charges in Allen Parish.
Dr. Todd Michael Glover, a veterinarian in the Houston-Galveston area, was unanimously found not guilty of first-degree rape and sexual battery charges recently in the 33rd Judicial District Court.
The alleged incidents were reported to have occurred on Dec. 2, 2018, at the Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder — where Glover was attending a rodeo event. He was later arrested by Texas Rangers at his home in Webster, Texas, and indicted on charges.
“We spent the last few years tirelessly fighting to clear Dr. Glover’s name and restore his freedom,” defense attorney Todd Clemons of Lake Charles, said in a news release. “The investigation, led by a Texas Ranger who displayed clear bias against Dr. Glover lacked corroborating evidence to support the allegations.”
Drug charges against Glover have been dropped on appeal, according to Clemons.
Clemons expressed his satisfaction with the jury’s unanimous decision to find his client not guilty on all counts.
“The charges lacked merit and should never have been filed,” Clemons said. “The jury’s swift deliberation, taking only 90 minutes, including their lunch break, reflects the justness of the verdicts.”
The trial, which began with jury selection on Jan. 13, faced temporary delays due to a writ taken to the Third Circuit Court of Appeal, the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, and a snowstorm.
The Allen Parish District Attorney’s Office recused themselves, and the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office prosecuted the case.
Clemons served as defense attorney with Cody Vidrine and the Loftin Law Group serving as co-counsel.
