Cindy S. Loar, 72, passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born and raised in Lake Charles to Julian Henry Smith and Edna Bell Istre Smith, Cindy lived a life full of kindness, service, and love for her family and community.
One of Cindy’s greatest joys was supporting her daughters during their time in the LaGrange High School Band. She was also extremely active with her daughters softball team both in high school and playing travel ball in the summers. She was a booster parent for LaGrange softball showing her support in any way that she could. Whether it was in a hot seat of stadium bleachers or a hot concession stand, she was there.
Cindy cherished her travels, especially her trips to Michigan to visit her daughter and her family. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she was a dedicated member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She was also involved in ACTS retreats, where she found great strength in her faith community.
A memorial service to honor Cindy’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., with a rosary being recited at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations to be made to the Children’s Miracle Network
