A 22-year-old Lake Charles man has been arrested in Tuesday’s fatal shooting on Pecan Acres Drive that is thought to have started over a snowball fight.

Lake Charles Police Deputy Chief Kevin Kirkum said SWAT team members arrested Rivers Davis Vallier near the entrance to the front circle of the Lake Charles Event Center Friday afternoon in connection with the shooting.

Vallier has been charged with second-degree murder, assault by drive-by shooting and aggravated assault with a firearm. His bond has been set at $1,050,000.

Kirkum said police responded to the shooting just after midnight Tuesday at 5020 Pecan Acres Drive. When officers arrived they found 20-year-old Tyler Lebleu suffering from a gunshot wound in his apartment. LeBleu later died of his injuries.

Kirkum said witnesses said the shooting occurred after several people in the complex were playing outside in the snow.

“As they were throwing snowballs at each other, a snowball may have hit the suspect’s vehicle he was driving,” Kirkman said. “The suspect drove off after a verbal confrontation with the subjects and then returned to the area where he saw the persons throwing snowballs.”

Kirkman said Vallier then got out his vehicle and shot multiple times at them.

“One of the rounds went through a window and struck the victim,” he said.

No other injuries were reported.

Kirkum said this in an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Lake Charles Police at 337- 491-1311 or anonymously leave a tip on the Lake Charles PD app. Det. Sgt. Dusty Fontenot is the lead investigator.
