Though the snow is quickly melting across Southwest Louisiana, chilly temperatures will persist for another couple of nights.

National Weather Service Lake Charles Meteorologist Donald Jones said temperatures will be in the mid-20s overnight into Friday morning followed by a lighter freeze Friday night into Saturday morning.

Temperatures should drop to 24 degrees in Oakdale, 26 degrees in DeRidder and Ragley, 27 in Jennings and 31 in Lake Charles.

“That should be the last night of freezing temperatures for this event,” Jones said. “We then return to our regularly scheduled winter.”

Temperatures should peak in the mid-40s by noon Friday and drop into the low-30s by 6 p.m. By Saturday at noon, temperatures should reach the low-50s.
