Wendell Neal Courville

Wendell Courville, 61, of Royse City, Texas passed away at his residence suddenly and unexpectedly on Jan. 6, 2025.

Wendell was a native of Lake Charles and was a 1981 graduate of Barbe High School. While being raised in Lake Charles, he played baseball for the South Lake Charles Little League and was active with his family at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Following graduation, Wendell pursued a career in aviation maintenance and held the title of Aviation NDT and Quality Control Inspector, working for many companies before working for Southern Rotorcraft for the past 18 years. He considered his fellow employees as an extension of his own family and was very devoted to his job. Wendall was a sports enthusiast and was a season ticket holder with the Dallas Stars Hockey team. He was very generous and donated to many charities.

Preceding Wendell in death are his parents, John Burchman and Irene Ann Lopez Courville. He leaves to his memory two brothers, Jeff (Cindy) Courville, Lake Charles and Jimmy (Heather) Courville, Moss Bluff; nieces and nephews, Jacob (Amber) Courville, Billy Fontenot, Ashleigh, David, James D. (Melanie), Christopher (Erica), and Benjamin Courville and Phillip Bernard; great-nieces and nephews; and an extended family of the heart of his coworkers and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, and will conclude with a time of sharing at 1:45 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Private family interment will be at Consolata Cemetery at a later date.
