Second warming center opens at MLK Community Center

The city of Lake Charles has opened an emergency warming station at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, 2009 N. Simmons. The station will be open 24 hours, until the severe weather event subsides.
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, United Way of Southwest Louisiana and Second Harvest are also providing assistance in this effort.
These rules are being enforced:
· Residents are asked to present identification upon arriving. If they do not have identification, they will be photographed for security purposes. Residents must pass security screening when entering and re-entering, including metal detection
· No weapons, illegal drugs or alcohol are allowed
· No animals are allowed
The Lake Charles Police Department is providing security at the emergency warming station.
