Troy Kent Derouen

Troy Kent Derouen, 63, passed away at his home on Jan. 7, 2025. Born and raised in Lake Charles, La. on July 28, 1961 to Wilbert “T-Boy” Derouen and Virgie Marcantel Derouen.
A graduate of Barbe High School, Class of 1979, Troy worked at PPG Industries and Westlake Chemical where he worked as an operator for 33 years, ending with his retirement in 2021.
As an avid outdoorsman and an active member of the Hecker Hunting Club, Troy loved spending his time hunting, fishing, and cooking. His favorite pastimes were spent with family and friends that consisted of storytelling, jokes, laughter, and good food. Troy will be remembered for his love and devotion to his wife, three children, and most importantly, his role as Paw Paw.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 40 years, Cathy Soileau Derouen; his children, Morgan Derouen Fairchild (Alvin Achille III), Grant Joseph Derouen (Chelsea Gillard), and Blaire Elizabeth Derouen; his grandchildren, Parker Lee Fairchild, Joseph Achille Fairchild, Everett Grant Derouen, and Vivian Rae Derouen; his mother, Virgie Marcantel Derouen; his sister, Pam Derouen Navarra (Tommy); brother in law, Pat Soileau (Becky Walker); his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert “T-Boy” Derouen; his grandparents, Della and Amos Derouen and Leler and John Marcantel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Msgr. Jace Eskind will serve as Celebrant. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on the evening of Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025 at the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, and will continue until 8 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday morning at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, and will continue until departing in procession to the church for 11 a.m. Mass.
