Cullen Dwight Lejeune

Cullen Dwight Lejeune, 73, passed away at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, in a local hospital. 

He was a native of Eunice and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 30 years, moving from Lake Charles. He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. Dwight worked for many years as a Yard Master with Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 2010 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed music, playing the piano and guitar, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Jeanne Lejeune of Sulphur; his children, Jeremy Lejeune (Eepi Chaad) of Houston, Texas, Rebecca “Becky” Peterson of Welsh, Aimee Lejeune of Lake Charles, Stephen Lejeune (Danielle) of Lake Charles, and Katy Lejeune Breen (Logan) of Sulphur; step-children, Megan Derouen of Sulphur and Cassie Benoit (Joshua) of Reeves; his siblings,  Stephanie Lejeune Karzin, Donald Lejeune, and Jaye Lejeune;  11 grandchildren, Jazalyn, Brittany, Johnny, Chase, Cullen, Emery, Denim, Beaux, Adilyn, Bailey, and Parker; and several great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cullen Bryan Lejeune and Mary Ellen Atkinson Lejeune Benoit, and his siblings, Johnnie Lejeune, Bryan Lejeune, Charles Lejeune, Jeffery Lejeune, Tina Monticello, and Aledia Hebert.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. The Rev. Timothy Goodly will officiate. A time of fellowship, gumbo, and sharing memories of Dwight will be held in the family home following the memorial service in the church.
