Ruth Ann Phelps

Ruth Ann Phelps, 86, of Sulphur, passed away in her home on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. Ruth was born in Sulphur on Dec. 12, 1938. She worked at West Cal-Cam Hospital as a registered nurse for 36 years. Ruth was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor. She loved her bibles and devotionals. Ruth was continuously praying and caring for others. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and her cat, Kitty. Ruth was the best mom anyone could ask for. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sandra Phelps and wife, Katrina of Sulphur; her son, Brent Phelps and wife, Marsha of Sulphur; grandchildren, Allie Beaugh, Christopher Phelps, and Jonathan Phelps; great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Beaugh, as well as, many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Carl Lloyd Phelps; parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Henry; son, Ralph Wayne Phelps, and siblings, Eva Mae Hair, Jesse Paul Henry, Luke Joseph Henry and Eunice Theresa O’Quinn.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025 at Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Deacon Patrick Lapoint will officiate. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Carlyss. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025 at the funeral home with a Rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 9 a.m. until the time of service.
