The security company that provided 38 Calcasieu Parish School Board campuses with school security services is filing for bankruptcy.
Stratigos Dynamics provided services like security, remote monitoring, safety management, defense training and emergency response on a contract basis.
Before the 2023-24 school year, CPSB entered a $1.7 million contract with Stratigos to supplement school security measures throughout the parish.
CPSB Public Information Officer Holly Holland said Stratigos notified the board on Friday that they would be filing for bankruptcy.
“A notice was sent to all clients of SDI with no prior communication taking place from the company’s leadership. We, as a district, immediately began working on alternate plans for security, as SDI has provided security on 38 of our campuses for the last several years.”
A regional news outlet reported that several former Stratigos employees also were notified on Friday that the company would be “unable to continue paying salaries and employee benefits as usual.”
Holland said the safety of students and staff the board’s priority.
“We are actively working on a path forward to continue to ensure the security of our campuses,” Holland said. “We have notified our administrative teams, and we will continue to provide updates to our families as developments occur. We appreciate patience and understanding in this matter.”
On Monday, CPSB said in a release that district leadership met with local law enforcement representatives to determine initial security measures. Local law enforcement organizations will provide officers on CPSB campuses while the district finds a new company to provide security.
“We are incredibly grateful to the agencies for stepping up to fill these gaps while we work towards a more permanent solution.”
