Derrek Glyn King

Derrek Glyn King, 43, of Sulphur, passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024. He was born on April 7, 1981 in Sulphur, La. Derrek was a 1999 Sulphur High School graduate, where he played football all four years. He enjoyed his years working as an iron worker for H & H Metal in Sulphur and was a member of Houston River Baptist Church. In his younger years, he excelled in all sports, but his true love was deer hunting. He especially loved going to Possum Bayou with his many cousins, uncles, and friends, where many cherished memories were made. 

He is survived by his son, Daniel Raymond King who he loved and adored more than anything; his parents, Glyn and Sharon King of Sulphur; one sister, Leslie King Hinch (Ricky) of Sulphur; grandmother, Evelyn Smith of Lake Charles; Daniel’s mother, Lisa Davis of Sulphur; nephews, Benjamin, Philip, and Andrew Hinch, all of Sulphur,  along with many cousins, aunts, and uncles who he loved.  

Derrek is preceded in death by his brother, Lance Daniel King; grandfathers, Larry King and Joe Smith; grandmother, Shirley King; step-grandmother, Myrtle King; along with his great-grandparents, Ray and Evelyn Perryman.
