Donate to help make sure every child has a gift to open this holiday

Michael Boyer is going to jolly well make sure certain children in his hometown of Westlake find something under the tree Christmas morning.

There is no sign-up list for this program so don’t call to try to get children on any list. Boyer will rely on Chief of Police Chris Wylrie and Ward 3 Marshal Nate Keller to make sure the Christmas Eve procession gets to where it needs to go.

Toy and cash donations will be received for ages 0 to 18 up until around 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve and cash will be used to purchase toys at wholesale pricing.

Boyer began the toy drive five years ago based on memories of Christmases past.

“My dad always made sure we had toys at Christmas,” Boyer said. “But it wasn’t until I was older that I realized we were poor and the few toys Santa left us were a result of my dad working all the overtime he could get during November and December, still wishing he could have done more.”

Boyer is beginning a new Christmas tradition for his small family with this event.

“They all come with me and we pass out toys. For anyone who wants to give and can’t afford to, we offer the experience of riding with us in the Lake City Limo and Party Busses to deliver the gifts because few holiday events rival the experience.”
