Dorothy “Dot” Ann Hanchey Myers

Memorial services for Dorothy Ann Hanchey Myers, 93, of Lake Charles, will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Weldon Barres officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m. A private inurnment for the family will take place at Prien Memorial Park following the service.

Dorothy (Dot) was born on Aug. 10, 1931, in Lake Arthur, La., to the late Cobert Joseph Hanchey and Edwina Lucille Cloutman Hanchey. She peacefully went to be with her Lord at home on Nov. 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Dot graduated as Valedictorian from Elizabeth High School and earned a degree in Business Administration from SLI (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette). A devout member of First United Methodist Church for over 70 years, she truly lived for faith, family, and friends.

She is survived by her loving children, Rosie Myers Johnson (Jerry), John David Myers (Becky), and Paul Joseph Myers (Carol); grandchildren, Jennifer Ogea (Pat), Sarah Joy Johnson, Cory Johnson, Tiffany Hitdlebaugh (David), Lisa Cupit (Travis), Christopher Myers, and Stevey Myers; great-grandchildren: Ally, Sean, Emily, Aaron, Reid, Grayson, Drew, Ivy, Jayden, Mikey, and Jace; a great-great-grandchild, Preston; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Dorothy Moorefield, Melanie Hallman, Burke Crews, and Cobert Crews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.L. “Sparky” Myers Jr.; her parents, Edwina and Cobert Hanchey; her sister, Peggy Crews, and niece, Martha Crews Core.

The family requests that any memorial donations be made to her beloved First United Methodist Church.
