Leslie Ann Young Barlow

 Leslie Ann (Young) Barlow of Sulphur, La. stepped into the arms of Jesus on Oct. 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved daughter of Joseph (Joe) and Ann Young from Lake Charles, La. Leslie graduated from Barbe High School and McNeese State University, earning her degree in special education in 1992. She dedicated the next 32 years of her life to teaching at Maplewood Elementary, where she was affectionately known as Mrs. B. Her passion for teaching ensured that every child in her classroom felt loved and empowered to pursue their dreams. Leslie married her forever love, Barry Barlow, and together they raised their beautiful children, Bailey and Bode, in Sulphur. The love she had for her children was immeasurable; they are her proudest accomplishments. 

Leslie leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memory her husband of 32 years, Barry Barlow; her daughter, Bailey Mystric (Kade) of Krotz Springs, La.; her son, Bode Barlow of Sulphur, and her granddaughter, Sutton Mystric. She also leaves behind her mother, Ann Wagner and stepfather, Charlie; her sisters, Amy Andrews (David), Shelly Dowden (Ellie), and Jodi Young, and her brother, Tommy Young. Leslie was a devoted nanny to numerous nieces and nephews, cherishing every moment with her family and capturing them in photographs, always ensuring to express her love to everyone.

Leslie is preceded in death by her father, Joseph (Joe) Young; her maternal grandparents, Morris and Mildred Breaux, and her sister-in-law, Tonya Young.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Tommy Young, Dustin LeDoux, Jessie LeBouef, Collin Andrews, Vic Salvador, and Josh Fitkin. 

Honorary pallbearers include Chaz Andrews, Preston Chovanec, Reese Chovanec, and Rhett Barlow. 

A Celebration of Leslie’s life will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial in Sulphur, La. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at 10 a.m., with Father Aubrey Guilbeau officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pine South Cemetery in Carlyss, La.
