The Jennings Alive Festival will mark its 45th year Saturday with a day filled with shopping, artists, entertainment, great food and fun for the entire family in the city’s historic downtown.
The free, open-air street festival begins at 10 a.m. with the opening of the arts, crafts, information and food booths and continues until 5 p.m.
This year’s festival will feature more than 70 craft vendors, informational booths, food booths and food trucks along Main Street in and around Founder’s Park and the Strand Theatre. Part of Main Street will be closed to traffic for the festivities.
“This is the largest collection of Jeff Davis Parish craft and food vendors offering all their best,” City Event Coordinator Katelynn Breaux said. “And we want to celebrate all the crafting and activities they have to offer.”
Vendors will be selling and displaying artwork, clothing and accessories, home decor and holiday decorations, jewelry, candles, toys, homemade goodies and more. Food booths will be offering fresh lemonade, sno cones, funnel cakes, hamburgers, Cajun-Asian cuisine and more.
There will also be craft projects for children, live artists, face painting and more.
The Eighties Experience, a classic rock cover band, will make a return appearance at 1-3 p.m. on the Main Street stage. Local favorites, Colby Latiolais and Ambush will perform Cajun and zydeco music 3:30-5 p.m. on Main Street.
“It’s a good family friendly festival with plenty of things to see and do for everyone,” Breaux said. “We invite everyone to come out to enjoy a day of fun.”
Those attending are invited to bring folding chairs or blankets and spend the day taking in the sights and sounds of the outdoor festival.
Free parking is available within walking distance of the festival.
