‘Woman in Black’ taking stage just in time for Halloween

ACTS Theatre has several haunting performances of “The Woman in Black” slated for this Halloween season.
“The Woman in Black” is a 1987 stage play adapted by Stephen Mallatratt based on the novel by British author Susan Hill. The narrative follows an accountant, Arthur Kipps, who is hired to settle the estate of a deceased client, Alice Drablow. While in the, he encounters a specter of local legend, the Woman in Black.
In the stage adaptation, Kipps has hired a young actor to help him recount his experience with the ghost, resulting in a frightening and atmospheric tale. ACTS President Kristina Webster said that audiences can expect to feel unsettled (even scared) during the performance.
“We wanted something spooky that fit the season,” she explained. “The tension and creep factor heightens throughout the play.”
Known for having only three actors in the whole play. One plays the young actor, one plays the Woman in Black and the other plays Kipps (and every other character). The production features Zac Hammons, Dylan Conley and Rebecca Harris. It is directed by Stan Morris and produced by Bobby Guillory. Alloria Watson is the stage manager.
Performances start Friday, Oct. 25, and end Sunday, Nov. 3. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 25-26 and Nov. 1-2; and at 3:30 p.m. Ocg. 27 and Nov. 3.
General admission is $20. Senior tickets are $15, student tickets are $10 and tickets for children under 10 are $5.
