11-year-old dies after ATV crash in Sulphur

An 11-year-old died Monday in Sulphur following an ATV wreck.
At about 11 a.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of Armentor Road in Sulphur in reference to the accident.
The initial investigation revealed two juveniles were operating a Polaris RZR when it tipped over. The 11-year-old passenger was partially ejected from the ATV.
Deputies and members of the Carlyss Fire Department assisted performed life-saving measures on the child prior to him being transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained from the accident.
The driver of the ATV was not physically injured.
The investigation is continuing, but foul play or criminal activity is not suspected. The death appears to be accidental.
