A Lake Charles man previously convicted of indecent behavior with a juvenile and oral sexual battery now stands accused of molestation.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said that on Aug. 18 Special Victims Unit detectives received a report from the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office in reference to convicted sex offender Gregory E. Ballard, 61, sexually abusing a child in Calcasieu Parish.
During the investigation the victim told detectives the abuse occurred on multiple occasions for several years, starting when he was about 15 years.
Vincent said after further investigation, detectives issued a warrant for Ballard’s arrest on Sept. 30 that was signed by Judge Bobby Holmes.
Ballard, who is currently incarcerated in the Allen Parish Jail after an arrest on Aug. 29 by the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office on separate charges, is charged with molestation of a juvenile. His bond is set at $500,000.
Ballard was convicted of indecent behavior of a juvenile in 1985, aggravated oral sexual battery in 1988, and indecent behavior with a juvenile in 1996, all in Calcasieu Parish.
The investigation is continuing, Vincent said.
SVU Detective Cory Myers is the lead investigator on this case.
