James “Jimmy” Lee Jinks

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Lee “Jimmy” Jinks who departed this life on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at the age of 87 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 20, 1937, to Ira Millage and Maydell Raggio Jinks. He was the second child of six children.
In 1957, he graduated from Johnson Bayou High School. He worked 25 plus years as an Operator for Mobil Oil. After retiring from Mobil Oil, he became the Constable for Johnson Bayou. He was also a volunteer fireman and worked at the Recreation Center in Johnson Bayou. Jimmy was a jack-of-all-trades, there wasn’t anything that he couldn’t do.
Jimmy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend known for his unwavering work ethic, and dedication to both his family and community. He was a man of immense humor and wisdom, and cherished every moment spent with his family. He enjoyed living the cowboy life raising cattle and working cows. He was always ready to lend a helping hand anytime his family and/or friends needed him.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Arean “Tootsie” Jinks; his children, Billy Jinks and wife, Tesa, of Mauriceville, Patty Jinks of Rayne, Mark Jinks and wife, Adrienne, of Johnson Bayou, Eric Jinks of Baytown, Todd Jinks of Johnson Bayou, and Wesley Crader of Johnson Bayou; step-daughters, Tammy Landry of Bella Vista, Alexis Guidry and husband, Steven, of Houma, Suzanne Cormier and husband, Mike, of Hackberry, Stephanie Cheaney and husband, Randy, of Hackberry, and Shyla Coyne and husband, Bill, of Iowa; siblings, Larry Jinks, Dale Jinks, Juanita Sandifer; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ira Millage Jinks and Maydell Raggio Jinks; siblings, Myrtle Watkins and Charles Jinks; first wife, Jane Marie Authement, and second wife, Yvette Marie Crader.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Jody Robert will officiate. Burial will follow at Head of the Hallow Cemetery in Johnson Bayou under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home and will resume at 8 a.m. on Thursday. We welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating the life of a man who was loved deeply and will be missed dearly.
Pallbearers will be Beau Jinks, Joshua Barentine, Marcus Jinks, Colton Jinks, Kade Foreman, Luke Foreman and honorary pallbearer, Hayden Thibodeaux.
