Marjorie Nell McFarland, 84, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024 at a local hospice surrounded by her family. She was a faithful member of Moss Bluff Pentecostal Church for over 40 years.
Ms. Marjorie leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on April 2, 1940, she was a woman with a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around her. She was an avid gardener who took joy in tending to her flowers, and she loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and crabbing, though she always made sure to release the crabs back into the water.
Her love for nature often took her on trips to Colorado, Utah, and Canada, where she found peace in the great outdoors. However, as much as she treasured the Earth’s beauty, her greatest love was her family. Marjorie was the proud matriarch of her family, and her heart was deeply rooted in those she held dear.
While working at the Weingartens of Lake Charles for only two weeks, Marjorie met the love of her life, Raymond L. McFarland. The two were married on April 12, 1957 and remained inseparable until his passing in 1998.
Marjorie loved sharing her passions with her children and grandchildren, often passing down her favorite activities. One of her most cherished traditions was taking her grandchildren to church camp to insure their spiritual well being. While her heart was tender, she was fiercely protective of her family, always acting as their guardian.
Marjorie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kind, feisty spirit, love for nature, and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Preceding Marjorie in death are her parents, Ervin and Florence Lovenia Heard Jensen; siblings, Edward Jensen, Galvin Jensen and Doris “Lynne” Vines; beloved husband, Raymond L. McFarland and grandson, Mark Shearer II.
