George “G.W./Jake” William Deason

George William “G.W./Jake” Deason, 77, of Rosepine, La., passed from this life on Sept. 13, 2024.
Survived by wife, Linda “Polly” Williamson Deason; daughter, Britany; son, Jerry DeWitt (all current residents of Minnesota); three sisters, Bernice, Bonnie and Nita; five grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Preceded in death by parents, Lonnie and Mertie James Deason; brothers, Willie Ray, Darrell, Wayne, and Reid, and sister, Carolyn Sue.
Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La., performed the final arrangements on Sept. 16, 2024.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held in Minnesota on his birthday, Dec. 14, 2024. Louisiana service is still to be determined.
G.W. will forever be remembered for his service to his country in the Marine Corps and later as a wartime Military Contractor in several countries including Bosnia and Iraq. Stateside, many knew him as “Jake” the quintessential salesman’s salesman. Most of all, his loved ones will remember and miss his humor, outspokenness, enthusiasm for festive gatherings, and his “give you the shirt off his back” love for his family.
