It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Jacqueline (Jackie) Lavergne Phillips of Jeffersonville, Ga., who peacefully departed from this world on Sept. 12, 2024, in Orlando, Fla. Born on Dec. 26, 1951, in Lake Charles, La., Jackie was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a dear friend to many.
During her life, Jackie enriched the lives of those around her through her work in childcare and her unwavering commitment to her family. She dedicated her time to nurturing the minds of the young children she cared for at Robins AFB Child Development Center, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
Beyond her professional life, Jackie found joy in simple pleasures such as singing, gardening, cooking, and sewing. Her love for Gospel music brought her solace, with artists like Mahalia Jackson and The Mighty Clouds of Joy lifting her spirit. She was also an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins, GA, contributing her beautiful voice to the church choir for over three decades.
Jackie will be remembered by her three sons, Leroy Phillips Jr. and Danielle of Warner Robins, Ga.; Joseph L. Phillips and Nathaniel J. Phillips of Jeffersonville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Natorie Phillips of Bonaire, Ga., Casey Boswell-Phillips and La’Miracle Griffin, Ga., A1C Joseph Boswellof Spokane, Wa.; three great-grandchildren, Hermione Rose Colquitt, Empress Willis, and Thyme Boswell; two sisters, Rosalind Mitchell of Houston, Texas and Michelle Metoyer of Lake Charles, La., and one brother, Michael Reed, Atlanta, Ga.; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Jacqueline Phillips will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Family to welcome friends, Monday, Sept. 23, 2024 in chapel of Johnson Funeral Home beginning 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday at 9 a.m til time of service. Graveside Services to be held at Southwest Veterans Cemetery at 1610 Evangeline Rd, Jennings, LA 70546 at 12:30 p.m.
While Jackie may no longer walk among us, her love, kindness, and memories will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leroy Phillips Sr.; parents, Nathalie B. Reed and Wilbur Lavergne Sr.; siblings, Wilber Lavergne Jr., Janet Lewis, Gerard Lavergne, Charlene Jackson, and Leon Lavergne.
