James “Jimmy” Arlen Benoit

James Arlen “Jimmy” Benoit, 75, of Vinton, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024. He was born in Orange, Texas on Oct. 2, 1948 to Eraste and Evelyn Benoit.  Jimmy was an Army Veteran who served in Vietnam. After his time in the military he started his family in Baytown, Texas working in the plants as an Operator. In 1990, he relocated his family to Vinton and began working in local industries where he retired in 2010. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed cutting grass, watching LSU and westerns, but most importantly he loved spending time surrounded by his loved ones. 

Jimmy was preceded in death by his loving wife of seven years, Nancy Benoit; his parents, Eraste and Evelyn, and his sister, Susan McCullough. 

Those left to cherish his memory is his brother, Michael Benoit and wife, Becky, of Bridge City, Texas; his sons, Bill Benoit and wife, Jess, of Lake Charles, and Dusty Benoit and wife, Lindsey, of Carlyss; grandchildren, Eric (Randi) Benoit, Harlie (Kirkland) Doucet, Makynzie Benoit, Avery and Lily Benoit, Adeline and Camille Benoit; great-granddaughter, Oaklie James Doucet; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024 at Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Bro. Rob Tibbitts will officiate. Burial will follow at Nibletts Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Eric Benoit, Jude Fenetz, Jeff Allen, Dusty Olliff, Van Granger, and Matt Nichols. 

The family would like to thank the staffs of Harbor Hospice and Sage Oak of Lake Charles.
