The Welsh Greyhounds shut out St. Louis Catholic 26-0 in the final game at the Paradise Grill Jamboree on Friday at Matt Walker Memorial Stadium.

2023 American Press All-Southwest Louisiana Small Schools offensive MVP Jonavon Begnaud completed 8 of 12 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 60 yards and another score.

Welsh scored three times in the first seven minutes of the game to build a 20-0 lead and didn’t allow the Saints past midfield in the first half. Welsh held St. Louis to 46 total yards.

Welsh quarterback Jonavon Begnaud hit Hunter Hixon from 37 yards out for the first score of the game.

St. Louis Catholic fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Ayden Miller recovered it to set up Azarias Bennett’s 3-yard run for a 13-0 lead with 12:42 left in the first half.
