Lake Arthur used some big plays in the second half at the Paradise Grill Jamboree on Friday at Matt Walker Memorial Stadium to edge Grand Lake 21-14.

After forcing Grand Lake to punt on its first drive in the second half, the Tigers went 66 yards in five plays to take the lead. Carter Guillotte outran the defense on a 51-yard run to find the end zone after La’Nell Shankle’s key 15-yard catch on third down.

Shankle had the next big play, an interception with 9:28 left in the game. It took less than a minute for the Tigers to score when Cameron Bonin found Zavier Drake for a 39-yard touchdown.

Grand Lake cut the deficit to seven on a 24-yard run by quarterback Brycen Guillory, who had to escape several tacklers in the backfield with 7:12 left.

Charles McFarland recovered a fumble for the Hornets, but their potential game-tying or winning drive fizzled at the Vinton 11-yard line.

Guillotte led the Tigers with 116 yards on six carries, and Bonin completed 3 of 4 passes for 83 yards. Shankle had three receptions for 59 yards.

Jax Tingler ran for 92 yards on nine carries for Grand Lake, and McFarland added 59 yards on 10 carries.
