Stout throws 4 TDs, Broncos beat Bulldogs 36-27

MOSS BLUFF — The Sam Houston Broncos aerial game was on full display Thursday at Bolton Ford Jamboree.

Senior quarterback Gavin Stout threw touchdowns to four different players, and the Broncos beat Jennings 36-27.

Stout didn’t throw an incomplete pass until the second half and threw all four of his scores in the first half as the Broncos built up a 28-7 lead. He completed 11 of 12 passes for 195 yards. Three receivers — Ty Sout (3 rec., 71 yards, TD), Ayden Rose (2 rec., 79 yards, TD) and Drew Dronet (5 rec., 57 yards, TD) — had at least 50 receiving yards.

Sam Houston didn’t have a scoring drive over five plays in the first half.

The first was a 14-yard strike to his brother, Ty Stout, on third down with 9:46 left in the first half to end a five-play, 62-yard drive.

A Jennings fumble gave Sam Houston a short field for its next touchdown, a 1-yard reception by running back Drew Bailey. The senior added a 3-yard rushing touchdown in the second half and finished with 16 carries for 83 yards.

Stout’s third score was a 70-yard bomb to Rose with 2:02 left in the first half. Senior Wyatt Harvey picked off Jennings’ Chris need in the closing seconds of the first half, which led to a wide-open Dronet scoring on a 23-yard reception.

Jennings put together a pair of long scoring drives in the second half of 59 and 79 yards. Chris Ned scored on a 23-yard run and threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Humphrey Ned to pull the Bulldogs within seven points, 28-21, with 7:51 left in the first half. Humphrey Ned also scored on an 89-yard kickoff return.

Chris Ned rushed for 111 yards on six carries and ReJohn Zeno added 52 yards and a scored on nine touches.
